Most require a degree or experience, but I'll bet Brooke could qualify for the medical transcription one.
And if you don't freeze up on the phone making cold calls, I hate it, you could try the sales reps.
If you go the independent contractor route, do realize that you will have to file federal income taxes every 3 months. So make sure you have either a good accountant or some good tax software. AND stay on top of it!

That paying quarterly guesstimates isn't too bad, TMW. That's what we do with our business. And, yes, we need an accountant to figure out how much those payments will be, but it works. And, by the end of the year, if you've been good and paid each one, you owe no more, which is a good thing; to have that behind you and no big tax chunk looming on April 15!
I wouldn't qualify for the claims processing. I did a totally different kind of work.
I wish I did though... :)
Brooke-I was thinking more along the lines of medical transcription work.
Transcribing taped notes to put in patient's records.
